Mumbai: Saajan Ghar actress Megha Sharma doesn’t believe in making noise; rather, she prefers to show up and do her bit. Speaking on the occasion of Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22, she said, “As someone in the public eye, I believe influence comes with responsibility. I try to lead by example, whether it’s choosing mindful fashion, reducing plastic use on set, or sharing small, practical habits on my social media.”
“I don’t believe in preaching; I believe in showing. Even simple things like carrying a reusable bottle or supporting conscious brands can inspire people to start somewhere,” she added.
She has shifted to reusables in her daily routine and shared that it made a huge difference. She said, “Especially cutting down on single-use plastic. From water bottles to makeup wipes, those small swaps really add up over time. It also made me more aware of how many unconscious choices we make every day.”
Megha has become mindful about the brands she associates with. She said, “While I may not have always taken a strong stand earlier, today I consciously evaluate if a brand aligns with my values. For me, it’s about authenticity; if I don’t believe in something, I can’t promote it with conviction.”

For her, speaking on issues like climate change and sustainability is both a responsibility and a personal choice. She said, “It is a personal choice, but when you have a voice that reaches thousands or millions, it naturally becomes a responsibility too.” You don’t have to be perfect or know everything, but even starting conversations and spreading awareness can create impact,” Megha ended.
Asked if she could start one global movement this Earth Day, what would it be? She said, “I would start a movement called ‘One Habit, One Planet. ‘ The idea is simple: every person commits to changing just one habit for the planet.”
“It could be anything: reducing plastic, saving water, or conscious shopping. I’d use social media challenges, collaborations with fellow artists, and real-life community drives to make it feel relatable and doable because change doesn’t have to be overwhelming, it just has to begin,” Megha ended.
